Though initially embarking on a subtle debut, the new Sonndr kit is finally available for purchase on our website and in-person. With limited quantities available, it truly is an emblem of both exclusivity and a proud symbol of membership with the community that has grown within our space. It is both surreal yet comforting to know that we have a family beyond the members behind the bar, truly extending beyond into something much larger and more beautiful. This kit is not merely a compilation of thread and colours, but a material representation of exactly this phenomenon: community.
Yet again, we have partnered with our long-time friends at FC Cold Sand to workshop and bring life to this kit, where every single detail was carefully manifested into the product now available for you to bring home. In dialogue with Ashtone Morgan, primary designer of the kit, he suggests that there is a strong Palmeiras influence at the club, FC Cold Sand. The question then was to see whether a harmonious medley of a notorious rivalry could be done. From there, influences and fragments were drawn from rival clubs Corinthians and Palmeiras to create something balanced yet inspiring. After all, the community fostered by Sonndr is neither linear or unilateral, it does not speak of one entity or a particular “type” of individual, but of something so much more beautiful in its multifacetedness. It is what is coined at Sonndr as the Sonndr way: bringing people of all walks of life together in one space. Despite holding lots of influence from Palmeiras, the kit was intended on being representative of all things whether in contrast or in likeness.
Even with our colour palette we wanted to challenge ourselves by bringing together something unconventional – brown, red, orange, green, yellow… it shouldn’t really make sense, but it is for that reason that it is something personal and beautiful. We really wanted the vintage kit feel, with the touch of the white box on the back with the block numbers inside. You simply just don’t see kits like this anymore.
We are happy we could bring this piece to life for our community and our men’s league team we are partnered with, who lifted another trophy this summer in the brown kit. The Sonndr jersey is a testament to the culture, community, and values we embody at 1086 Dundas Street W. It is representative of futbol, coffee, friendships, and the space that we occupy.
